Christie Clinic’s Vein and Vascular Center located at 101 West University Avenue in Downtown Champaign is now offering vascular screenings. Vascular screenings evaluate the risk for stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and peripheral vascular disease. Risk factors causing vascular disease include smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, cardiac history and chronic kidney disease.
Available screenings include, carotid screening, aorta screening, and peripheral artery disease testing. Screening tests last thirty minutes and are $30 each or $75 for all three.
Every three minutes someone dies from a stroke and each year 15,000 people die of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms. With a simple exam that takes less than 30 minutes, many of these strokes and aneurysms can be prevented.
